The People of Nature

All the deer and the fish, the geese and bears They are the proud people of the forest When they are slowly killed off, no one cares Because people think of them as a pest They chop down their trees to build their own house And poison their water so they can’t drink The least they could do is build a birdhouse But they don’t care and don’t stop to rethink They cause destruction and don’t realize All the pain and death and wounds that they cause They never hear all the animals’ cries When they have wounded tails or legs or paws So next time when you go cut a tree down It might just be part of a bluebirds’ town ~10/23/17 Please leave a comment and let me know what I can do to improve my poems!

Congratulations on your win, Hannah, a lot of truth to your verse. I too feel that they suffer so much under our hands. Hugs eve ~`*

Hannah...I am a lover of all wild places. The animals truly do suffer We are guests in their home, and not the other way around. Our memory is so short termed. We build in places prone to fire or flood and blame other for poor planning. We build in areas wild and free and see the great animals as a nuisance. One thing I have started to notice is that we are putting a value on nature. Well Penned! Thank you and Congratulations
