The People of Nature
All the deer and the fish, the geese and bears
They are the proud people of the forest
When they are slowly killed off, no one cares
Because people think of them as a pest
They chop down their trees to build their own house
And poison their water so they can’t drink
The least they could do is build a birdhouse
But they don’t care and don’t stop to rethink
They cause destruction and don’t realize
All the pain and death and wounds that they cause
They never hear all the animals’ cries
When they have wounded tails or legs or paws
So next time when you go cut a tree down
It might just be part of a bluebirds’ town
