The Pearl
Sea waters bathe the shore
time and again with the tide
bringing with it
demolished particles
what once were the walls
of a child's sandcastle
now awashed
across my ceiling and floor
needing true grit
to withstand at times
as each grain
forever becomes a part of me
for better or for worse
Round and round
as the days and waves roll on
in an effort
to invade my shell
the incessant currents
push and pull
that gurgle of unstable bubbles
drowning out my daydream
their outcome
yet to be determined
for reasons I cannot fathom
Peering out
from the smallest opening
keeping my shell closed
as tight as possible
bracing myself
for better or for worse
as the seas shall
trespass once more
all the while I am forming
round and round
still becoming me...
