The Path of Suffering

Out of the sky lightning comes
Out of the ground comes fire
From the water comes all of life
And yet it is the place we drown.
Where is there that is safe?
Where is there that can remain?
Where is there that knows only peace
Where suffering has no name?
The path of suffering is the way forward
It’s the way that everyone avoids
And yet it is the only way
We make amends and purify our karma.
Unless of course we simply
Just let go.
