The Path of Blessing
The Teacher got up from his seat,
stooped, and washed His students’ feet.
His action shook them to the core
making the proud Peter’s heart sore.
The path of blessing He explained,
is not found in treasures sought and gained.
It is not that which we deserve
because our fellowmen we serve.
A humble spirit paves the way
to follow Jesus every day,
by serving men and doing good
in every way that our hands could.
The path of blessing beckons on
its travelers to Lake Woebegone
so, they can bring the tidings glad
to dwellers there whose hearts are sad.
The Path of Blessing cuts across
the field of dreams, covered by moss.
Those on the path bring words of hope
to shattered souls struggling to cope.
Wherever those with needs abound
the Path of Blessing can be found.
And those who walk this pathway should
like Jesus, practice doing good.
By those who know the master’s will
and let it's doing their hearts thrill
the path of blessing would be found
and when Christ comes, they will be crowned.
