The Path
From the start You gave me life;
Sin came in, soul suffered strife
Such an awful circumstance
Sin controlled both feet and hands
Lost was I nowhere to go
All of me have suffered so
Till the day that I did see
Footprints that led me to Thee
Roughest route the prints were found
On your head the thorns were bound
Nails and tack with blood were blot
Stains that made me gain a lot
Course was cruel, dark the day
How oh Lord can I repay
Such a precious sacrifice
Opened darkened, blinded eyes
Painful path your feet did bleed
To the cross the trail did lead
Hungry soul was there relieved
That same day I first believed
Guard my feet, where’er they go
All You say, I’ll do it so
Sure am I You’ll lead the way
Every word will I obey
