The Past Lives of Deserts

Raindrops dropping out,
                                                  Sea sank below golden sand,
                                                              Ashes of water.

This is partly inspired by your Kalahari poem. Thank you, Maureen :)

This reminds me of the Smokey Bear ads of the 50's about people preventing forest fires. Warning! Warning! Warning! This sounds like it is coming, and you are trying to save us. The ozone layer is nothing to smile about right now, and I know this even though I am not an environmentalist.

I've heard/read about the Smokey Bear ads, but not being an American who grew up in the 50's, I've never seen them. Let me try Youtube. Thank you, Caren :)
