Notes About The Poem

HAPPY NEW YEAR
To One and All
may your pens sparkle
as words of magic
drip onto the new page
The Past and the Future
Now that Christmas is past
most stuffed full of turkey
and regretting their indulgence
presents opened and enjoyed.
We start to look forward
to the new year with hope
wishing that all we want
will come true next year.
We have enjoyed the season
made merry with family and friends
now we want happiness and joy
to ring out with the bells.
We hold our breath while counting
the minutes, then the seconds
until at last Big Ben strikes the hour with
glasses in hand we toast the old year out.
Welcoming the brand New Year
all the expectations it brings
singing of all we love heart hearted
trying to see our futures come to life.
