The Passing of the Shadow

Words scratched across a yellowed page Dimming light glints off the wet ink I right my last words in vigilance With an explanation to circumstance I have stayed as others left Have found my life desolate and bereft No longer do I haunt and lurk I have passed through shadow Passed through dark I have found the early dawn To pass me by To shine on these tears I will wait for reckoning Through all my fears To the question carried through eternal night Why, why love when you can fight? Why struggle for what may not be right? Sink, steal back into that night
