Inspired by the heart of Andrea Dietrich, it is easy to be a good poet, it is much harder to be a good person with a kind heart and soul, she is all of the above!

The Paper Clip

They were such a lovely couple
From a very very rich family
I was invited to
The birthday party

She was all of three
Adorable and soon ever more sweet
Once the candles were blown
That huge cake would be such a treat

Now the presents were a plenty
Clothes, jewelry, toys
Dolls, doll houses and bikes and more joys
I was somewhat shy, mine was not so grandiose

I had wrapped in an old cigar box
Another box much smaller
Inside a third box even smaller
Inside that me gift

A small piece of paper
Folded with a bright red paper clip
A wee little poem
That said these simple words

You are a treasure
Hidden inside these many boxes
So beautiful and worth the discovery
You are the jewels of life, you so lovely

I had drawn a pretty princess
On the paper fine in pink redress
I read her the words
From the bottom of my heart

Her eyes lit up so bright
I got the hugest biggest hug in sight
She ran away with a paper clip and
Three old cigar boxes

In a child’s happiness and
Pure delight
I sighed
The gift was so just right!

An afterthought from ancient times

The Poetry of Wine

Gifts that come from the heart
Light up the soul
When you gaze into a starlit sky
Count the millions of gifts from the heart
Their goodness shall shine
Upon us mortals

This is so incredibly beautiful and touching Arthur. This made me smile as I read today. Just this feeling, the one your words describe has washed over me. Gifts that are easily bought, require little thought. But those with love shall start, a smile upon the heart. Wonderfully written my friend.

It is so true the little ones get intrigued by the boxes, the paper, things new to them but also things that involve imagination. I remember get a new refrigerator or stove and the kids playing in the boxes for days....love your wine poem too

Cont..So what you've written in that poem is true..The value of a gift lies not in the price but in the heart we put into it...Share gifts and cards sealed not with who gives most..but who gives wholeheartedly.A lovely poem.Re Andrea-I love her so much. She is an inspiration..a community builder...a soul sister.and a friend. Fantastic poem..A fave.

Art...You know what,my four year old is learning to write...Few days ago while I was cooking..She opened my cards drawer..I keep new cards I buy for when an occasion arises...In twenty mins..I wasnt.seeing.her...She scribbled all over the cards. At first I nearly got angry..until she told me..'Mommy are you happy. Can you read what Ive.written?''.There were only scribbles everywhere and color even on her hands. She said'Mommy ,you re the best mom in d world'I love you'.I hugged her tightly then.Cnt

OH MY GOSH, I am so delighted with this, Arthur. You took the little video I posted on FB and made another little story equally beautiful to show the gratitude of a heart that does not care about riches or glory. Just being grateful for every little thing we have. Thanks so much for the dedication. I am honored and flattered. BIG FAVE
