The Painful Truth

That hand
Did not show love this morning
But rather stinging pain
As it slapped
My cheek

It is not for hitting
But for caressing
Showing affection
Holding, supporting
Giving love

When that hand rises
Again in anger
Let it not land on me
For when it hits the surface
I will be gone
