The Pain of Letting Go
Your heart is broken, it shows in your eyes.
Sleepless nights, God hears your cries.
You ask Him to take the pain away.
Crying and screaming, “God help me”, you pray.
So many years of your life
spent loving her, your wife.
You asked her to work things out;
help you understand what her pain is about.
She was in denial, burying the past;
making a choice to run away fast.
You struggle with guilt, your heart is pained,
causing you to feel so tired and drained.
You ask, “Lord when will the pain end,
and this shattered heart of mine mend?”
So many gloomy thoughts flow through your mind;
wondering if you’ll ever feel the warmth of sunshine,
feel joy in your heart or wear a smile on your face.
Take comfort in knowing God’s grace.
He will be there for you,
He will see you through.
One day you will wake up with the pain much lighter
and that morning the sun will be shining brighter.
You will thank the Lord up above
for giving you strength and all His love.
