The Other Side of Reality

they say that first love
is the deepest
but this I think this is untrue
for my life seemed more like a fantasy
until the day that I found you
I always did the best I could just taking things
in my stride
but my life had no reality until the day you
were by my side
people used to treat me like some kind of door mat
and tried to walk all over me
it was more like infatuation from what I can see
I had no real ambitions I had no real dreams to come true
but yet I found all my dreams and ambitions the day that I found you
I know it may sound kind of strange
that in a blink of an eye my life you did rearrange
although I did the best I could to thrive
it was only when I came to you that I was truly alive
my life had no real meaning in all the things I used to do
my life was only reality dear Lord when I gave my life to you.

I like your poem. Mature love is more about the other person than about ourselves. We give more of ourselves and let the other person grow. Sara
