The Other Side of Poetry
THE OTHER SIDE OF POETRY
I
DARKNESS
I sit on the alcove
Gazing at the window panes
All I see is darkness.
I cry, I laugh, but all I see is blood and emptiness.
I dance, yet my legs are immovable,
The pains of yesterday still fresh.
My voice crooked, I try to sing a new song
But all I hear emanating from my voice
Is the song of misery?
I have tried to find the other side of life
I have traversed the entire length and breadth of this earth
Seeking for a world that lies beyond poetry,
Poetry and its sometimes meaningless verses
Yet my words on paper cannot profess the pent up
Feelings in my heart
Ready for a meaningless explosion.
II
LIGHT
The lights turn from red to green
And from the blues she walks up to me
In a flowing white gown
She sweeps my caked face with her warm soothing hands
Gives me warm smooth kiss and a long embrace
My joy knows no bounds
Now I know the other side of poetry and that is LOVE.
