The Other Side

No boxes left to pack, she turned and closed the door to ride Folded papers open doors to life on the other side Her two are small, she knows them well, from her they came to stay They’re here until tomorrow and then back again today They grow so soon she thinks and knows they’ll grow a little more And she is growing--even though she’s younger than before Her green eyes catch a glimpse of sun, she walks out toward their sound Of whisper laughs and grab her leg…and leaves they throw around She’s been there like so much before, remembering the sense Of strangeness red and freedom blue and personal distance She knows that fortunes faded gray will shift new like the tide When she expects them least to pass, now on the other side.
