The Other Cheek

I'd turn the other cheek, but here's the thing
that cheek's been slapped before, and there's the sting

Ouch! You're really great at these brief poems, Eileen. You keep surprising me with the way you twist old sayings into something different. I think the phrase in question, has more to do with not engaging in verbal warfare that goes on endlessly. It's hyperbole. But I do KNOW what you're saying here ... you can't let people use you in an abusive way.

Thanks, Timothy. You know me well. I always appreciate reading your comments on my work. I've been through something that has really troubled me, but....I think it has helped me become stronger. Hugs, my dear.

Sounds like you need one of those fencing masks my little Desert Orchid and an iron glove, that should set you up good and proper lol. Turning the other cheek is the worst piece of advice ever given. Some things you can ignore, some you can't. Take care, Richard

Here you are, Mr Seal....Good to have a visit from you....especially when you speak words of wisdom. Thank you for understanding. Sometimes being quiet means being untrue to yourself and your convictions, and that's the worst that can happen. My opinion of myself is more precious than others' opinion of me. Hugs

Well actually you have four cheeks! Sometimes a little spanking can be fun! Oops bad Rick! Sorry I couldn't resist after reading your response to Eve!

Yes, Richard. I know...I was DYING to make a comment like that, but.... ;) In trying to find pics for this...I actually found very strange cheek pics... Oh, well. Let's not be too naughty. Hugs

Clever and true Eileen. Sometimes we have to do that and move on.

Yes, Michael. Sometimes the best thing is to move on. Nobody invites pain...and if pain is all you get from certain people....best thing to do is move on. Thanks for the visit.

Nobody likes getting slapped on either cheek. You can't always take the high road. Sometimes you just have to fight back! I really like the way you wrote this, very truthful. Peace my dear:)
