The Orphan and the Pearl

These words were written by a pearl with craft A child went to Egypt with no quiver The land of idolatry and witchcraft To find a sole pearl in the Nile river The pearl was guarded by the Ancient Snake The child, in the heat of the sun and sand Listened to the snake’s lullaby awake A spell that called mist to cover the land Memories of parents died and exiled The pearl was lost in the mist in a swirl But a letter shone to the orphan child He remembered his soul and took the pearl The child returned to the Dawn-land on raft These words were written by a pearl with craft Date: 05/14/2022 Contest: Orphan Sonnet Poetry Contest Contest's Sponsor: Emile Pinet
