The Orphan
Does anybody hear me?
Did I do something wrong?
Why must I stay here?
I've been here, oh, so long.
Can anybody love me
Just for who I am?
What am I being punished for?
I just don't understand.
I'll be whatever you want me to.
Please won't you take me home?
I need someone to care for me,
To tell me I'm their own.
I promise to do whatever you say.
I'll never raise my voice.
I'll always do my homework,
Just let me be your choice.
I've been here, it seems forever,
And tho I'm only eight,
I've always wanted a family
And I can hardly wait.
So, please, whenever you visit
Take a careful look at me.
Won't you take me home with you
And be my family?
