The Only True Freedom We Have

There is only one true freedom we have in this world That is not hindered by the Time and Place of our Birth, Our Religious Beliefs, Family circumstances , Or even the dictates of the regime we reside under. We can try, And keep on trying as long as we have a breath left in our body, We are free to try and be kind, In the most adverse circumstances, We are free to try and make a better world, If not for ourselves, then for those yet to come, We are free to try out new things, And free to try standing on our own two feet. It is only in the knowing that we tried, That we can call ourselves truly free, And shout from the roof tops, That by our own standard our life has been worthwhile, Then no opinions to the contrary, Will hold any sway, And we can be truly content, Within our own skins, And hopefully have made some lifelong friends along the way.

I'm sorry to say that you take this for granted, think again of those who can't even have this chance to try to try! If you get what I mean. Thank you : )

I do matta. Still think your fortitude and focus on your writing at this time is incredible. More than could be expected of anyone. All my prayers are with you and any family you have. David in NZ

I am humbled by your comment. Reaching out to others through poetry is a special feeling. The soup is great venue, long may it continue. Have a great week-end my friend. David in NZ. one day we may wrangle an international poets convention with poets like yourself here to read. Poetry is the great hope for our young to find solace and life worth living.
