The Onlooker
THE ON-LOOKER(ANY OLD POEM CONTEST)
I watched in awe
As the landscape transformed
Stone on top of stone
Cement wedding with the sand
Into executive apartment
And the towering investment
I watched silently,
As the sons of real men
Created the city.
I watched in amazement
The horizons disappear
Services all coming nearer
Simple plots becoming dearer
Up came the magnificent mall
So towering and tall
I watched quietly,
As the sons of real men
Created the city.
I watched astonished
As tomorrow arose
Grass turning to glass,
Steel, iron and chrome
Pictures from the movies
Becoming our realities
I watched with joy,
As the sons of real men
Created the city.
