The One That Got Away
One day,
Even your voice will fade
To a dull echo far behind my thoughts.
And maybe then,
Ill be free.
Or perhaps,
I will go on
Hearing your voice down vacant hallways
Calling me nearer
And you'll stay.
Whichever you choose
I will not argue.
I will not resist.
For I would rather remember how you are in the moment,
Than a soft ache
In the back of my mind
Constantly reminding me of a nameless absence
Not even I
Dare name.
