The Old Holiday Spirit

Eight days and nights of Chanukah is a little much for me I've gotten to that 'golden age' where it's really hard to be Happy, happy, happy morning, noon and night I'd just like to go to sleep once I light the lights

Love this write. You are missing out on gifts??? With Christmas and Chanukah you would have 9 days. Hope you are OK. Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah...................................

I agree "I've gotten to that 'golden age' where it's really hard to be" - it is so hard to be here. So incredibly hard.

I feel the same way about New Year's Eve - we're usually asleep by 11!

Interesting. If you stay up 'til 11 where you live, then you potentially can watch the ball drop in Times Square, NY, and State & Madison, Chicago. Who needs midnight, anyway?! LOL. :) gw

Never rush to sleep as you have eternity to enjoy that . . . .

haha. I used to feel that way about sleep, a big waste of time... Over the last few months, however, I've suddenly become a big brown hibernating bear! Cheers, gw

My father was Italian, my mother was Jewish. She converted to Catholicism so we always celebrated Christmas. For the past 8 yrs I have been dating and living with my Jewish girlfriend. Her son lights the menorah and sings the prayers. I love it! My mom would be proud...Happy Chanukah, Gershon. ~CM

Gershon, Very light-hearted write, the eight days in light. Though I wonder how many years you've kept it, your very own menorah. -Richard

Well, ever since I was bar-mitzvah, I've lit my very own Chanukah menorah, Richard. Let's see that's 39 years. Plus a few (lol) more... Light and Joy, Gershon

Yeah. I hear. Such a shame though, isn't it?! Well, it's off to another candle-lighting ceremony I go. (Oh, no!). It'll be great once I get there, I'm sure. ~ Revved up
