The Old Cabin Hidden Back In the Hill

As I stood beside the waterfall,
Amongst the trees and mountains tall.

I spotted what seemed to be a structure or wall,
But getting there was hard at times I had to crawl.

It was quite old an uninhabited place,
Partially standing only by grace.

The door was gone and the windows were too,
I wondered if there were any wild critters, could be a bear or two.

Quietly I made my way too peek through the door,
You’ll never guess what was laying there on the floor.

Three tiny raccoons, nursing on their mother before she caught a glimpse of me,
She made such a noise they all scattered and headed for the nearest tall tree.

Inside I did go but I had found me a strong stick,
In case there was another critter that might be a needing a powerful lick.

As I looked all around there was nothing in sight,
This place had known a battle there was evidence there of it alright.

There were pieces of arrows still stuck in the wall,
You wonder if there were survivors or had they all taken a fall.

As I left that place and headed back down,
I couldn’t wait to tell about my story when I got back to town.
