The Notorious Five

Eye that supports greed
It is not satisfied with little
Always asking for more
That it cannot even give

Tongue that destroys life
It speaks out evil freely
And hates to pronounce blessing
Take heed lest you become its victim

Hand that takes bribe
It enjoys ill-gotten gain
Never on good terms with honesty
Beware for it blindfolds the eye

Leg that calls for bloodshed
It is ever pleased with violence
And loves to sacrifice innocent blood
How swift it is to kill

Heart that is full of vanities
It is an abode for those things
That do not count
Surely its products are worthless

I enjoyed reading your poetry this morning Peter. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I am going to see if I can write something for a couple contests this weekend. Hope you find the inspiration to do the same. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours. Love, Carol
