The Nook
When we first looked at the house
my wife exclaimed:
“O look it has a charming little nook!”
I looked at the ‘charming little nook’ and thought,
yes, I can see myself sitting in this nook,
relaxing upon its little nooky bench reading poetry
on all those calm days to come.
It’s been two years now,
I still haven’t read a single book
in that charming nook.
Sometimes I rest for a moment there,
but only to ponder how I am going to meet
the mortgage and repairs next year.
I know I will never write poetry in it -
not even this one.
