The Noble Experiment

I find it hard to believe the sun is setting That the noble experiment is in fatal decline, Just because so many people are forgetting Descending into what I’d call a piteous whine. That the noble experiment is in fatal decline Belying solid foundations of our Constitution Descending into what I’d call a piteous whine, Conspiracy theories adding to rank confusion. Belying solid foundations of our Constitution With safeguarded freedoms in amendments Conspiracy theories adding to rank confusion Bringing to the forefront ridiculous arguments! With safeguarded freedoms in amendments And not elevating to power insurrectionists, Bringing to the forefront ridiculous arguments To remain stalwart, we need constructionists. And not elevating to power insurrectionists How close we came to witnessing a coup To remain stalwart, we need constructionists We need strong leaders who know what to do. How close we came to witnessing a coup Just because so many people are forgetting, We need strong leaders who know what to do I find it hard to believe the sun is setting.

I do not understand this either "Conspiracy theories adding to rank confusion Bringing to the forefront ridiculous arguments!"except the dumbing down of the USA might be complete.

I suspect you have hit the nail on the head, Caren, with your comment "except the dumbing down of the USA might be complete." Yes!!

Poignant write, Milt. Interesting that I just saw a similar poem on another site, written by an arch-conservative. The comparison highlights the yawning chasm that exists in perceptions of 'reality' among us. Oh, well. Brush up on your Russian. Putin's coming soon... Keep smiling, Comrade

Ah, what can I say? I'd love to read the "arch-conservative's" take on this subject, gw.

empires which the usa is last on average according to history roughly 200 years a bloated government a bloated military and severe moral decline always leads to its destruction we have survived beyond that only because we can sell our debt other empires of old have not had that luxury but our day is coming to sad to say because I love this country and the strong moral and Christian values it was founded on and while it's had many flaws I still think it's a great nation.

There is much truth to your words, Charles. I, too, think it's the greatest nation on earth.

How do we amend the amendments to safeguard the freedoms we once had? A divisive former president, a divisive Supreme Court who continues to overthrow what had been good for the common causes of our country, and who knows what comes next? I fear the answer. This pantoum is formidably constructed and its information is succinct, sad that it is.

That, Jenna, is the $64,000 question. The Congress can pass laws safeguarding those freedoms once again, but will they???? When justices will flagrantly lie to gain a seat on the USSC, integrity is thrown out the window. What has happened to the USSC is every bit as serious as what happened on January 6th, in my humble opinion. We have at least three (possibly four) justices who should be impeached!
