As if 'twere written in granite, Stands the No. The No, No, No. Despite controversy it may incite- Imperious No. The No, No, No. Often said and heard, And dreams turn to ashes. No one's favorite word- The cruel tongue lashes! Get to know the No, Sometimes an iron-clad friend, Impenetrable as nights in Moscow; The beginning of the end. The No's a desert bloom, And storm cloud on blue skies- Smiling doom in the midnight hour of gloom, Intended to paralyze! Awe inspiring No! The No, No, No, Is reason and has power, But, often is unwelcome, though- Rational, lonely, determined, shadow flower!

Just love your exploration of 'Dr. NO!' 'Impenetrable as nights in Moscow' has me curious. Any experience wth Russians?!... My wife's family are all native Russian speakers---and they sure are impenetrably stubborn. LOL!...btw: What's the difference between parenting n America and parenting in Russia? ---In America, the children tell the parents what to do, and n Russia, the parents just always say No/Nyet! Thanks for another great poem, Evelyn. Season's best, Gershon

You're very welcome, Gershon. My only experience with Russians comes from my imagination, and 'nights in Moscow' rhymes so beautifully with 'no.' Thanks for the entertaining snippets about Russians and parenting, and Happy Holidays to you!
