The Nightmare

As you lie down and drift off to sleep your world soon becomes bitter and bleak. The shadows draw nigh and then fade away as the creatures of darkness come out to play. You run and you hide to escape from your fear and you fall to your knees as the creatures draw near. Fear now grips you as you’re held into place and you let out a scream as you see evils face. Its eyes glow red and its fingers are long when it claws at your back as you get up to run. You flee until your lungs start to burn as the sounds of the creatures are at every turn. Suddenly your trail ends at the edge of a cliff and you become helpless and can no longer resist. You back away as far as you can and step off into an unknown land. You look all about you and see a great light with winged creatures in glorious flight. They take you and lift you into the sky and place you before a wandering eye. The eye looks inside you and devours your fear and the creatures of flight refuse to come near. You detect a presence standing behind and as you turn to see you are stricken blind. Something then grabs you and shakes you with force as you awake from your nightmare and evils discourse. 4/19/2013 Terry Burns
