The Night the Lights Went Out
It was an ordinary day for an American girl,
typical run of the mill stuff consumed her life,
Yet, no one knew her daily strife,
The abuse she feared from day to day,
The horrible thoughts that constantly got in her
way, she knew one day he would surely kill her,
spill her blood and no one would be wiser,
because of the stigma the subject holds,
Her mind wandered if she were to give up and fold,
What would her destiny be............?
The night the lights went out was the straw that broke
the camel's back,
A devastating attack took her unaware as the enemy
had drunken up too much of the atmosphere,
She could have been anyone's daughter or friend,
as the choke hold wiped away her smile,
Her thoughts confirmed, "This could be the end",
The room faded to black,
What was happening?
Was she having a heart attack?
for a moment she lay lifeless and unconscious,
what had she done to deserve a fate so vicious?
The night the lights went out of her mind,
was the first time God showed her a true sign.
