The Night of Fire

Logs melt slowly in a stone pit
Lights the night, in silence we sit
by fireside
Darkness afar illuminates,
as if the night must compensate
the firestorm
A battle of flames now delight
Claims the visual in the night
with fireflies

Such a beautiful poem, Frederic. You brought the fire into reality with your remarkable descriptions. Love the way you end it too, comparing the "visual" to fireflies. I haven't seen this contest, but the quality of this poem stands on its own. (Jameis Winston is giving me heart attacks - slow starts, strong finishes.)
