The Night Before

Amidst the moonlit night,
we sit hand in hand...
Your eyes give away your plight,
In a silent world, we stand...

Your charming face looks grim,
and why would it not?
In a sea of emotions, we swim
our seeds of the future rot...

It's the night before you deploy,
into a land unknown...
You'll be joining your convoy,
after leaving us all alone...

Our mouths don't utter a word,
our eyes are enough to convey..
To each other, the love in our heart,
which we wished to say..

And then the morning comes,
but the sun doesn't seem that bright...
Even the sky has seemed to have understood,
the intensity of our plight...

How ironic as you walk away
the radio plays our special song...
Now my words can't make you stay,
After all, it would only be wrong...

It's been a few months since you left,
The world seems to fall, back in place...
Everything seems a little bereft,
All i need is your embrace...

I'm lying in the wake of the dying sun,
Waiting for you,
To return...
