The New Year

The New Year Tradition gives us Auld Lang Syne Pursuing resolutions that are benign We seek to supercede the past For the next to be better than the last The past is, "water-under-the-bridge" Yesterday we can't change or abridge Faults and failures could dominate If we permit them to dictate To error is human, we all know Our true efforts, we may fail to show Our intentions may be to exuberate Yet failure has seemed to overtake Let failures be a stepping stone They are a medium for us to atone Regard it as a second chance Future endeavors it may enhance Let us be vigilant of past mistakes And set our goal on higher stakes Strive to be tolerant of our fellowman Their issues, to better understand Each day God grants us, let us use That opportunities, we don't refuse Help us not to circumvent So time He gives, may be well spent Colan L Hiatt = 01-01-16 © All Rights Reserved
