The New Arachnid On the Block
I'm the new Arachnid on the block.
I'm funky, I'm chunky with flair.
You'll think me cruel 'cause insects are my delicacy,
But I warn them - " Defy me if you dare! "
I must say, I hate to be unfair.
I advise them not to get too near.
And though I move fast, if they stay over there
I'll never catch, snatch and grab them.
But sheer cheek or curiosity
Draw them closer!
Why? I wonder, but without complaint.
Is it my legs of eight?
My colour? My eyes?
When will I pounce?
When will I take them by surprise?
They stare in awe at my fabulous web
As it shimmers and shines in the light.
Its radiance, beauty and pattern
Is what brings them to their plight.
Their urge to explore I don't fight!
So I say,
" I'll spin you a yard.
I'll spin you a mile.
I'll spin you some circles
As a free trial!
And as a courtesy,
So you don't feel sick,
I'll numb you and soothe you
With a prick and a lick.
I'll wrap you up gently
In my cosy, warm web...
A friend you will be
As you keep me well fed. "
Yes, I'm Arachnid.
Yes I'm the new kid,
A spider that rocks
On the block!
