The Muttering Retreats

Night will whisper romance, 'neath the blue moon
Love will find eager hearts in which to glow
Stars above will twinkle a mellow tune
     And passion will continually flow
     delicate wings in sight
     so fragile is love's flight
     emotions feel just right
                            moments like this
        sharing a kiss
          enjoying bliss
But heartache can emerge from love's cocoon
Hearts can be shattered by this dreadful blow
Till the muttering retreats on love's plight,
                            all seems amiss
