The Music Just Never Stops
And he dragged her to the floor
to Porter's 'Begin The Beguine‘,
swaying to the sultry rhythm
without missing a beat.
As the orchestra shifted to Jobim
paying tribute to an Ipanema girl,
he seduced and she responded,
he pulled and she obeyed.
Dancers left the stage to give way
as the pair twirled and tantalized,
heedless of many eyes watching
their lovemaking on the floor.
It has been a long time since then
when two souls moved as one
with crowds cheering them on,
voyeurs to their lusty ritual.
Years had cleared the dance floor
and dancers had faded and gone
following the steps of Bojangles
that gave rise to the Travoltas.
But the wheel keeps on rolling
while young bands are rocking
to old familiar beats and styles
and the music just never stops.
