The mother's Prayer

Though storms of knowledge rage and hearts take fight,
Still make his Faith in Thee golden rule;
Keep thou his soul by day,and his dreams by night.

If fear should seize his tender spirits might
Let him remember home,the hearth,the pool-
O Lord,attend my child with Thine own light.

And when he kneeleth down,all meek and slight,
let Heaven smile upon his learning's tool;
Keep his soul by day,his dreams by night

Grant him dear God,in grace his lifelong sight,
To walk in truth,in mercy,calm and cool-
O Lord,attend my child with Thine own light,
Keep thou his soul by day,and his dreams by night.
