The Most Scared I'Ve Ever Been
Cruising along on my horse
Relaxing-enjoying the ride
When all of the sudden, out of nowhere
My mare jumped off to the side
She went left and I went right
And when I hit, I sure hit rough
I just laid there for a second
It’s a good thing that I’m tough
Unknown to me an rattler
Had spooked my untried mare
And when she dumped me on the ground
I lay there unaware
Then as I made a sudden move
He coiled up in his defense
His rattles clicked just a bit
I saw him then and tensed
My heart was pounding in my chest
It was in the grip of fear
Adrenalin coursing through my veins
I was afraid the end was near
As he readied himself up for a strike
And I knew I couldn’t stay there
I launched myself just as he struck
And he caught nothing but air
I grabbed a rock to hit him
To persuade him on his way
He slithered off while I just panted
My mare had run away
I was shaking so bad as I walked home
I thought my knee’s would give out
That was the most scared I’ve ever been
I know that without a doubt
