The Moonlighter

When she said yes, he was "over the moon" Though the orb was oddly missing that night The couple should have seen this as a sign That their marriage might not bring delight At times, the man in the moon needs relief He’s seen couples pledge ardor that’s sure to fade But warnings the man is not free to give So he takes vacations when he's dismayed Once a month Earth’s moon takes another gig Moonlighting in a far-off galaxy The lunar eclipse only veils the truth The man in the moon is an absentee *For Kevin's Moon Contest

There is scientific proof of happenings during the full and new moons Carolyn. I never mail packages on on the full or new moon....last one I mailed on the NM never arrived. I love this thought provoking poem that rings so charmingly true. I hope to see this on the winner's list my friend! Past few days I wasn't feeling great so have been absent from PS.: )

We attribute such fantasy to the moon. It was Juliet who told Romeo not to pledge his love by "the inconstant moon," for it might prove fickle when the moon disappeared. This was the inspiration.
