The Moonlighter
When she said yes, he was "over the moon"
Though the orb was oddly missing that night
The couple should have seen this as a sign
That their marriage might not bring delight
At times, the man in the moon needs relief
He’s seen couples pledge ardor that’s sure to fade
But warnings the man is not free to give
So he takes vacations when he's dismayed
Once a month Earth’s moon takes another gig
Moonlighting in a far-off galaxy
The lunar eclipse only veils the truth
The man in the moon is an absentee
