The Months and the Years

How deftly pass
the months and the years
all shrouded in a veil of tears

And as they pass
the young ones grow
with burning hatred
being all they know

For watching their world
everything they love
being burned in the fire
that is rained from above

Care we not for
the future of these
these ones who each night
are down on their knees
these who are left
with no families

No loved ones to hold
to keep them nightly
safe from the cold
and hold them tightly

To draw them close
and dry all their tears
as deftly pass
the months and the years
