The Monster Dad
He was her Dad
A loving, kind, and caring man,
her comforter, protector
big strong Daddy,
All part of his twisted plan,
most loving person
that anyone had ever seen
But with every touch and hug
he plotted his perverted scheme.
Just eight years old
her innocence taken from her,
Filled her with gifts
and promises untold,
Then came the threats
I'll hurt your Mummy if you talk,
for years and years
the fear of Daddy's nightly stalks.
He'll wake up nights
and many times went to her bed,
And though Mom saw him there
the thought never entered her head,
Just thought him loving
and comforting his child,
Too many times
Mothers refuse to see the signs.
Teenager now,
and Daddy's hold is loosening,
demands not met
and lots of changes happening,
Horray for her
she called the Police turned him in,
it didn't matter how far back
no date or limitations.
A few years he served
but the damage is already done,
Nothing on earth
could give her back her innocence,
Mothers beware,
open your eyes and please observe,
there's Monster Dads
roaming through the universe,
Sometimes your child needs protection
from their own protector.
Some Moms are just as bad, no better
Well! that's another chapter!
