Notes About The Poem

The Misunderstood Lord

Oh, Death, Lord of the underworld,

How misunderstood you must be

For

At the moment it is you who opens the gates of eternity,

Still

We, mortals, your coming abhor!

How wise and perceptive you are my friend. Death in truth is feared because it is the end of all that we have known but the beginning of what we have NO KNOWLEDGE OF. The beginning of eternity. Now WHERE we spend eternity is entirely up to us and we decide that while we are here by the way we live our lives. WE either behave as Children of God or Children of "someone else". Who is your daddy? Great write my friend. God Bless and Happy Easter to you and yours. JB

This is not just perceptive, but also profound and wise. Your remarks, my friend Demetrios, belongs in the domain of the divine. We, humans, fear death because we see it as the annihilation of our being, yet we have little anxiety.

And we hope it's not coming any time soon, but we're wise enough to accept one day it will come knocking. Tom
