The Mist Lies Still

THE MIST LIES STILL

The morning mist slipped into the park

As easily as a lie told in the dark.

Grey and seemingly harmless,

A little cold, but still and featureless,

Obscuring all the trees, the paths, the lake,

Confusing distance and direction to take,

It hid the truth, it hid the view:

Distorted everything we knew.

Your poetry is always a pleasure to read no matter what you are writing about Syd. Enjoy your weekend and keep your pen flowing. Love, Carol

Tight but not sterile and just plain old captivating. I am both glad that you ended it where you did (good write) and was dang annoyed that you ended it where you did (what truth??? What do you know??? SPILL IT! Hee hee) There is a sinister quality to this, like a film noir, an echoe of the Turning of the Screw, perhaps. Anyways, glad I read this, Cyndi
