The Missing Package
A little black dress
Amazon said it has been delivered.
We look everywhere.
They said on the porch.
We clean the porch.
Unless it went down a mouse hole,
it is not on the porch.
We search the mailbox, even the garden cart
for they left a box of cat food in there once.
The garage was closed, and we doubt
they entered the side door with the
cobwebs that would make a hoarder shudder.
My husband calls them back.
They left it under the mailbox where the
robin has her nest.
We do not use that.
It is the robin’s!
Sure enough, there it is.
Good thing it’s summertime.
