The Missing Cell Phone

The Missing Cell Phone

By Elton Camp

I gave my pocket the usual pat
But was horrified to find it flat

It’s where I keep my cell phone
Yet, now I find that it’s gone

Various possibilities I have to face
I may have laid it down someplace

I rush to the den table by my chair
But find that the phone isn’t there

Because I went to town today
In the car, perhaps it’ll lay

In the automobile, I search around
However, no phone is to be found

I think of the places that I’ve been
Preparing to go back there again

As I’m about to put the car in gear
It’s a familiar ring that I hear

With great relief the sound I greet
It’s coming from under the front seat

“Hooray, hooray!” I joyfully cry
Without my phone I can’t get by
