The mirror

The image staring back is me
A look that was once not free
The pain buried behind the burning eyes
To this day silent cries

History displayed across my face
A person needing a warm embrace
Each wrinkles tells a different story
An action and mental inventory

Each grey hair that appears
Has come with hurt and tears
The hair line slowly moving back
A constant reminder too unpack

The tiredness showing under the eyes
The memories of being told what to despise
The freckles on my fair skin
Likened to her and him

A smile that doesn’t quite reach
Always told I was a leech
What looks back at me
Is not someone who is proud to be

What stares back in the reflection
Feels the full force of rejection
Someone who is hard to love
Thanks to those 2 who rest above

Damaged beyond repair
The past present and future of a spare
