The Mighty Donkey

A 'beast of burden' he's often dubbed And even when he's cleaned and scrubbed He's known by another term more crass That may be censored; it rhymes with gas He moves so slowly and seems so lowly Yet when Balaam did his trusty burro abuse The donkey spoke! His master he accused ~ To this very day, readers are amused ______________________________________ The story of Balaam and his burro can be found in the Old Testament: Numbers, Chapter 22, Verses 21 - 38. And yes, the donkey spoke!

Hadn't thought of 'arse' as a 'Biblical word' actually. Thanks for the alert, Rico! Aloha!, gw

The only disappointment is that you have somehow forgotten to throw in Missouri Mules.

Balaam couldn't see the angel, because he was more stubborn than the donkey! Take care, Alexis. :) gw

Another great write from your very talented and prolific quill, Gershon. The lowly donkey also conveyed Christ in his triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Best on you - Bob

Thank you, Bob... I wonder what the donkey whom Christ rode had to say! Guess they forgot to interview him, what with all the commotion around his rider, eh? Blessings, Gershon

A wonderful poem, Gershon. I'm not familiar with this story. I've always liked the New Testament a little more. Have a great night. :)

Such knotty language issues, Jan! I hope we can sort them out some day and come to some kind of agreement! LOL! Perhaps my people can call your people. ~ Howling Wolf
