The Memoirs of a Cat Lady

“The Memoirs of a Cat Lady”

you slinked onto my sunny windowsill
winked with your one good eye
a no-brainer, all in your face, head

saucy marmalade pants
bittersweet No. 1 wins the day,
in my bed

oh to be dominant
in my realm of warmth
once again

Moonlight
calculates the temerity
of a head-over-heels

One-eyed Pirate upstart
heart-claiming
Love Cat

she remembers
shameless,
she silently grins

My dear friend, as myself being a member of the poetic club of those deeply owned by their past, I must say- cats see deeper into ones soul and thus illicit depths we may either not previously see or else choose to hold back in reserve. Like light is the foundation of love, oft the poetry in our hearts is the saving grace that to often many hide. A fav- as true gem. God bless..

Poetry has certainly saved me at times. I can vouch for that Lindley. I love most animals with the exception of feral rats and mice (having lived through a rampant mouse plague in my youth), possibly snakes (had a scary encounter with a barnful of red-bellied blacks once; they love eating kittens). As for my two cats, not a romance made in heaven, but we persist. Jealousy reigns in the bigger one, who tries to scratch the other's one remaining good eye out. I love them both, I'd go a dog or two too...but an unconscionable situation to place a menagerie in an apartment, they need wide open spaces. Maybe the Blue Mountains. Cats are mysterious and unpredictable. The Egyptians revered cats. “In ancient times, cats were worshipped as gods; they have not forgotten this.” Terry Pratchett - I think this may be true. :)
