The Meatball

I'm a meatball in a sub,
With three others just like me,
We are warmed by tomato sauce,
And a blanket made of cheese.

The roll is our surrounding house,
Handled by a man,
Shivering at a football stadium,
While sitting in the stands.

My best friends will soon leave me,
One by one as I watch the teeth,
Overreach each sphere of nutrients,
Devouring what's beneath.

This is what I was born to do, so I will not be afraid,
Munch, munch, munch. Oh what a glorious day!

You are a fun poet! Thanks for the laugh! I love a good meatball sub. My sister and brother-in-law make the best ones. They owned a sub shop for a bit!

That’s what my cousin calls the 80-20% - 80% funny, 20% fall flat.

Thanks, the meatball sub I bought at the supermarket had an opening in the wrapping, so rather than eating it, I wrote a poem... So it didn't completely go to waste!

It hurts when I laugh and I laugh when I cry. Thanks for the lost B side Beatles tune.
