The Measure Of The Just
In the hush before the breaking dawn
When shadows bargain with the light,
I stand where truth has never knelt
And choose the harder road of right.
No crown of gold can buy my will,
No fear can teach my soul to bend,
For conscience is my sovereign law
And mercy is my only end.
I walk through fires of borrowed hate,
Through storms of rumor, greed, and lies,
Yet keep my oath to guard the weak
And meet the world with open eyes.
Let tyrants write their names in stone,
Let empires rot on thrones of pride —
I carve my path in living deeds
Where justice walks at reason’s side.
For power fades and force grows old,
But honor stands when all is gone.
I am the keeper of my cause.
I am the witness to what’s wronged.
And when the final reckoning comes
And silence seals the dust of breath,
Let it be said: I did not kneel —
I chose the good. I mastered death.
