The Meaning of Sorrow

The loss of something precious.
A spark of life, darkened far too soon.
Memories of sugar and spice,
washed away by bitter tears
that no parent should ever have to shed.
The oblivion of innocence
brings us to the question of why,
and an answer we never fully understand.
