The Meaning of Hot

The Meaning of Hot

How many times do you get burned
Before you learn the meaning of hot?
Is it the same thing you learn in love
When your true love is clearly not

He is not the man you thought he was
And he has stolen your heart away
You didn’t even mind at first
Because you believed all he had to say

Lies and broken promises
Has taught you a thing or two
About finding true love in this life
It is only awarded to a chosen few

I can only hope and pray for you
And the next time love comes along
You will look closely before you believe
That melody is truly love’s song

After a while you get so you know
You can tell if it’s true love or not
You have been burned so many times
You should stop and give it some thought

Do some real thinking
Taking all the things you have learned
And keep them within easy reach
To avoid the cost of being burned

Now you know how it is done
You can avoid what love is not.
Keep yourself all together is best
For you have learned the meaning of hot

The door swings both ways. I have met more than my share of phony baloney women in my lifetime. You have written everything very well in this piece. I wholeheartedly agree with everything FJ has stated just below.
